St. Ambrose
Bishop of Milan from 374 to 397, one of the four traditional Latin Doctors of the Church; renowned preacher who baptized St. Augustine and shaped Western liturgy and hymnody. Stood firm against the Arian heresy and the Emperor Theodosius. Feast December 7.
