St. Albert the Great
German Dominican friar (c. 1200-1280), bishop of Regensburg, philosopher, theologian, and natural scientist; teacher of St. Thomas Aquinas at Cologne and Paris. Doctor of the Church, called "Doctor Universalis," and patron of natural scientists. Feast November 15.
