St. Abercius
Bishop of Hierapolis in Phrygia in the late 2nd century, known for his missionary travels through the Eastern empire. His epitaph (the Inscription of Abercius) is one of the earliest Christian inscriptions and contains symbolic references to the Eucharist and the universal Church. Feast October 22.
