St. Abbo of Fleury
French Benedictine abbot of Fleury (Saint-Benoît-sur-Loire), one of the leading scholars of 10th-century Europe. Wrote on grammar, computus, and canon law; promoted Cluniac monastic reform. Killed in 1004 while attempting to settle a violent dispute at La Réole. Feast November 13.
