In December 1531, near Tepeyac Hill outside Mexico City, Our Lady appeared to St. Juan Diego and asked that a church be built in her honor. As a sign for the doubting bishop, she had him gather roses out of season; when he opened his tilma, her image was miraculously imprinted upon it. That image of Our Lady of Guadalupe remains one of the most venerated in the Catholic world, and her feast is kept on December 12th.
This mini brown scapular carries the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe on one side and the Marian crucifix on the other — a compact form for daily wear.
